Hearst Electronics Group Set to Release the 2010 Supplier Interface Study to the U.S. Market

04-15-2010

Uniondale, NY -

Hearst Electronics Group is excited to unveil the 2010 Supplier Interface Study to the U.S. market.  This study, recognized as one of the electronic industry’s most valuable resources, details how engineers engage with suppliers throughout the entire product development cycle.

This is the fifth Supplier Interface Study, and for the first time, Hearst Electronics Group partnered with Lodestar Research, a Princeton-based marketing and research firm well known for its foresight and deep industry expertise. “We believe this change has had a significant and positive impact on the Study,” says Steve Cholas, World Wide Group Publisher. “While preserving the best of what makes the Supplier Interface Study so important, new elements were added that strengthen its value, helping suppliers make better strategic decisions when dealing with today’s design engineer.”

Below are some of the highlights from this year’s Study:

What information EEs want and use the most. This will give a much clearer sense of where to target messages and how to create relevant content that resonates with the EE.

How EEs want to receive this vital information. The overabundance of information sources has elevated the noise level targeted at engineers to a point that suppliers are struggling with which communication platforms to use.  This study will provide valuable insights as to the format most likely to reach the engineer.

What percentage of design-engineering products are outsourced and where, enabling suppliers to make better tactical and operational decisions.

An Un-Aided Brand Awareness assessment of authorized distributors offers insights to EEs’ views of distributors that perform “best in class,” and “preference” for the critical design and value-added services that they request.

For the first time the “voice of the EE” is brought directly into the report around key issues through verbatim comments. Readers will gain firsthand knowledge as to the EEs’ greatest challenges and what distributors and suppliers can do to better meet their needs and make them more effective in their day-to-day work.

Social Media was assessed as a utility in terms of when EEs search for new product information used during the design process, frequency of use, and the overall value EEs place on social media.
